The All-Star Annual Benefit
The All-Star Annual Benefit was founded last year, in May of 2010. The annual fundraiser was created in support of Tim Roden & his family. In order to foster community support and funds to cover the costs of care for the Stage-4 colon cancer patient, a golf tournament was held at Riverchase Golf Club in Coppell, Texas on October 16th, 2010.
The event was a success and we were overwhelmed by the outpour of support from the community, local businesses and many friends and family members.
Following the success of the event & exceeding our goals and expectations, we have decided to make the benefit an annual fundraiser, with the goal of sponsoring one local family each year, to help with the costs of caring for a famly member afflicted with Stage 4 cancer.
I believe that this type of help, as opposed to donating to a general fund, can benefit our local community in a more direct way and foster a genuine sense of community and hope.

Kaylee Rios
Kaylee Darlene Rios was born on December 5, 2008. Her parents are Ryan and Darlene. She has a 4 year old sister named Rylee. The two are inseparable. In March of 2011 she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma, a life-threatening childhood cancer. Initial scans revealed a fist sized tumor stemming from her right adrenal gland between her liver and kidney. Scans also revealed the cancer had already spread to her upper body bones with the major concentration in her skull, jaw and around her eyes. There was 80% saturation in her bone marrow. She was admitted to Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth and Chemotherapy was started right away. Her treatment plan called for 6 rounds of Chemo over 6 months followed by a Stem Cell transplant and then 6 months of Immuno-Therapy. After 2 rounds of Chemo, scans were performed again to reveal a very positive reaction to treatment. There was a significant reduction in the size of the tumor. Cancer in her bones was depleted to a spot on her skull and around her eyes. After undergoing 5 rounds of Chemo, surgery to remove the tumor took place. The Chemo appeared to be doing its job as the tumor appeared mostly dead. After completing round 6 of Chemo, the biggest obstacle of treatment was the Stem Cell transplant in which she was delivered the most concentrated and toxic dose of Chemo followed by a transfusion of Stem Cells. The regimen in itself took such a toll on her little body that she was required to stay 30 days in and isolated ward of the hospital. But she fought so bravely through it and was eligible for release earlier than expected. Kaylee has been nicknamed Warrior Princess, a name of which she certainly lives up to. She is now due to undergo Radiation treatment and Immuno-therapy. Her journey has been a very long and arduous one. A journey that no parent ever wants to see their precious little 2 year old go through. And although ultimately, the outcome of cancer is uncertain, she is definitely showing it who’s boss.

Timothy Earl Roden was diagnosed with stage-4 colon cancer in the spring of 2010. With the support of local businesses, family and many friends, a golf tournament was held on October 16, 2010 at Riverchase Golf Club in Coppell. At the age of 44, Timmy departed this world on the Friday morning of June 3, 2011, surrounded by his family at their Colorado cabin. As a loving husband and caring father, Tim's gentle manner and thoughtful guidance live on with his wife, Wendy Walker Roden, and his adoring children, Treagan Earl Roden, 8, and Taryn Elyse Roden, 6. As a master machinist and co-founder of Roden's All-Star Machine & Manufacturing, Tim's insightful expertise and leadership helped build the family company from a three-man garage shop to a corporation with over 80 employees, whose livelihoods are his living legacy. As a friend, Tim's loyalty and sense of humor touched all those around him. His love of life thrives in everyone fortunate enough to have known him. And as a son, brother and member of our family, Timmy's courage and strength and gentle heart will forever inspire us. Survivors: His spirit also remains with his mother, Brenda Ray Goke and her husband, Dennis; father, Thomas Earl Roden and wife, Glorene; brothers, Tony Ray Roden and Thomas Dwight Roden; grandmother, Wilma Pauline Tillinghast; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
